Dear karateka and supporters,
Shotokan Week (SW) 2025 is being held in Melbourne from Tuesday September 30th to Saturday October 4th, 2025.
The event begins with instructor training to occur on Tuesday September 30th, followed by the seminar from Wednesday October 1st to Friday October 3rd, and finishing with the National Championships on Saturday October 4th.

Instructors
This year’s seminar features guest instructors Shuseki Shihan Murakami (8th Dan, SKIF Chief Instructor and 3 time SKIF World Champion) and Sensei Fumitoshi Kanazawa (6th Dan, Resident Honbu Instructor , SKIF World Champion and 7 times All Japan SKIF Kumite Champion). In addition, the seminar include sessions conducted by some of Australia's most high profiled and talented instructors.
Venue and Location
The venue for SW 2025 is the Caroline Springs Leisure Centre. All training (instructors training and seminar) as well as the national tournament will be held at the venue.

The Melbourne suburb of Caroline Springs is one of Melbourne’s Super Cities, with an approximate population of 26,000 people.
The location is excellent for visitors, as Caroline Springs is a one stop shop in terms of easy accessibility to the venue, accommodation, shopping and eateries – all within walking distance. Caroline Springs also has quick access to the airport with travel time approximately 20-25 minutes.
Accommodation
There is choice of accommodation close to the venue. The Quest Apartments and Mercure Hotel and Apartments are a 3- and 5-minute walk respectively to the venue and are located right in the hub of Caroline Springs. These accommodation options are situated near, or on, Lake Caroline (the largest lake outside of Albert Park) and are a 1-2 minute walk to the Caroline Springs Shopping Centre which has speciality shops and 3 supermarkets (Coles, Woolworths, and Aldi).
Located a 5-minute drive from the venue is Punthill Apartments. This accommodation venue is situated above a series of eateries and IGA supermarket and is located on Springlake (another picturesque location).
We therefore provide the links to the Quest Apartments and Mercure Hotel below as we understand many of you are keen to already organising accommodation and travel plans.

Welcome Morning Tea – Wednesday October 1st
Caroline Springs Leisure Centre
The morning gives members an opportunity to interact with one another, the visiting instructors, life members and senior grades. The morning tea is complementary for all seminar attendees and will take place during the first break of the seminar.
Instructors Dinner – Tuesday September 30th

The instructor’s dinner is by invitation only and is for SKIA registered resident instructors. The event will be held at Cantina, the private dining room of the Boardwalk, which is located at Springlake Shopping Centre under the Punthill Apartment complex.

Farewell Party – Saturday October 4th
Mandolin Rooftop Restaurant

The farewell party will take place at the Mandolin rooftop restaurant which is located on Caroline Springs Boulevard (5–7-minute walk from the Mercure Hotel and Quest Apartments). The venue has views over Lake Caroline and vistas of the Melbourne city skyline.
The event is a 3-course dinner. The cost is $90 per adult, and $70 per child.
National Championships
The National Championships will be held at the Caroline Springs Leisure Centre on Saturday October 4th.
Registration information for this event will be sent out to all SKIA members in a separate email, which will include a link to the tournament portal for registration.
The entry cost for adult competitors is $95 and for junior competitors is $70.
Seminar Registration
There are two payment registration links provided. One for SKIA members and one for non-SKIA shotokan practitioners.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING PAYMENT
When clicking on the payment registration link, a payment page will be visible. This payment page will have pre-populated a total (either $1450 for SKIA members or $835 for non-SKIA members). The reason for this is that the default for the payment portal is to automatically add a quantity of 1 to each possible pricing option.
Changing this default price to your appropriate amount is straightforward. Click on the quantity for the options you want to delete and then click on the REMOVE button. Repeat this process for every option you wish to delete. The total price will automatically adjust as options are removed.
